If the person follow regular intake of calcium and vitamin D from his diet. e.g.Milk and milk products, green leafy vegetables, ragi and for vitamin D- Go for walk in the morning to get Sunlight, milk, eggs and sprouts.
Then no need to take calcium, vitamin D supplements.
Otherwise talk with your doctor before taking any supplement.

Supplements, as the word denotes, are JUST supplements and NOT replacements!
Any healthy adult with a balanced diet need not take supplements. They are required for phases in life that require more nutrition e.g. childhood, pregnancy, lactation, elderly, those recovering from an acute illness and those with a chronic ailment like diabetes, high BP etc
